The sesquipedalian Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has pulled out a big word for the ongoing elections and has called it his favourite for the polls. The word is 'defenestrate'.

Recently, during a press conference in Jalandhar, a journalist asked him to share his favourite big word to describe the country's current mood.

What does defenestrate mean?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the meaning of this word is to throw (a person or a thing) out of a window.

The Times of India reported that Tharoor said that the people of the country had decided to defenestrate the BJP-ruled government.

Shashi Tharoor shared a cutout of The Times of India newspaper. The headline of the news report was: "Voters to defenstrate BJP: Shashi Tharoor"

Tharoor wrote on X, "Honestly not my fault. A journalist at the Jalandhar press conference asked for my 'favourite big word' for the current situation. As some of you know, I usually tend to oblige..."
