Watch: BJP leader slaps Tripura polling official, arrested

A Tripura BJP leader was arrested on April 29 for assaulting a presiding officer at a polling booth on April 26 during phase 2 polls for Tripura East constituency. 

The viral video shows Kajal Das, the president of BJP's North Tripura district slapping the poll official. Soon after that, a complaint was lodged against Kajal Das by the assistant returning officer of Dharmanagar. 

In the video, several other people were also seen attacking the officer at polling station number 22 of the Bagbasa assembly constituency. 

The investigation was conducted based on reports from sector officers, micro observers and the viral video, said Jayanta Debnath, the officer in-charge of Kadamtala police station where the case was filed.
