A video has gone viral showing an Independent candidate Pandit Keshav Dev from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh wearing a garland of slippers around his neck. He was campaigning in the city on April 9 for the Lok Sabha elections. 

Why was the Lok Sabha candidate wearing a garland of slippers?

The Independent candidate Pandit Keshav Dev was allotted a pair of slippers as a poll symbol. To make the most out of it, he was seen proudly donning a white turban and a garland of slippers, with his supporters by his side. 

In the viral video, he was also seen interacting with people on the streets, Dev said, "Chapal lagao brashtacharion ko bhagao (chase away the corrupt with slippers).”
