The Election Commission has allowed members of militant groups in Manipur which have signed Suspension of Operation and Memorandum of Understanding with the governments and are currently stationed at the designated camps to vote by postal ballot in the upcoming assembly elections.
The state polls are scheduled to be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3.

According to reports, a number of militants living in the 14 designated camps in Manipur have been enrolled in the electoral rolls of various assembly constituencies.
The poll panel has allowed them to vote through postal ballot taking into account their right of franchise as they cannot move out of the said designated camps.
