Rajasthan CM and Congress politician Ashok Gehlot announced two pre-election ‘guarantees’ a month before the state votes in the Assembly election. Gehlot promised cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 and an annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 to the woman head of a family.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier made similar promises in poll-bound Telangana under the ‘Mahalakshmi scheme.’
Gehlot was joined by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi at a rally in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, who accused Centre of “running for selected industrialists.” In another scathing statement against the BJP, she said it had “understood that talking about religion and caste during polls would get votes.”
