SKM sweeps assembly elections in Sikkim, wins 31 of 32 seats

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha on Sunday returned to power in the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term.

The SKM led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang won 31 seats in the 32-member assembly .

Tamang won from Rhenock seat by over 7,000 votes.

The Sikkim Democratic Front, which ruled the state for 25 years in a row till 2019, bagged just one seat.

Elections to the Sikkim Assembly were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls on April 19.
