Elections in five states from Feb 10-March 7; results on March 10

Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa will be held between February 10 and March 7 in seven phases, the Election Commission announced on Saturday. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.

Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held in 7 phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7. Manipur will vote in 2 phases on February 27 and March 3. Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand will go to polls in a single phase on February 14.

Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra while announcing the dates said that a total of 18.34 crore electors including service voters will take part in this election out of which 8.55 crore are women electors. He also added that 24.9 lakh first-time electors will take part in the elections across 5 states. 

The voting will cover 690 assembly constituencies across five states.
