UP Police has a dubious reputation and it lives up to without fail. Whether it was the anti-NRC CAA protests a couple of years ago or assault on students at AMU, UP cops have often shown their brutal side.

This week the target of UP cops' wrath were protesting students in Allahabad. The videos of the police action went viral and the shocked country asked ye kya ho raha hai.

This is not a raid at some gangster's den. This is UP Police barging into a students hostel in Prayagraj. This week the outrageous videos of cops banging on hostel doors with guns, raining lathis on students shook the nation.

In another video, cops were seen chasing the protesters and hitting them with batons.

Exactly why?

Students protested against the railway recruitment process in the RRB-NTPC examination and obstructed the railway track.

While Yogi regime has been infamous for justifying police atrocities in the name of law and order, this being election season, the government promised action against the cops. Three policemen have been suspended. The opposition, however, attacked the Yogi government over brutal police action against students.
