Reacting to UP poll results where BJP scored a thumping win, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday put up a brave face.
He tweeted that his party has “shown that the BJP's seats can be reduced in the state assembly".
The Samajwadi Party increased its tally from 47 seats in 2017 to 111 in these polls. BJP has won 255 seats in comparison to 312 in the last polls.
BSP chief Mayawati, who party faced a crushing defeat in these polls with just 1 seat, said that the party needs to learn from the poll debacle.
"UP election results are opposed to BSP's expectations. We should not be discouraged by it. Instead we should learn from it, introspect and carry forward our party movement, and come back to power," the BSP leader said.
"Before 2017 BJP did not have a good stake in Uttar Pradesh. Likewise today, Congress also undergoing the same phase as BJP...UP election result is a lesson for us to continue putting in efforts," she added.
