UP Elections 2022: FIR against Kanpur Mayor for violating secret ballot rule

A case has been filed against Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey for violating the secret ballot rule by sharing photographs and video of her voting during the third phase of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh

According to reports, she shared the pictures and videos on Whatsapp. 

District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that the pictures showing the Kanpur Mayor and BJP leader pressing the button on the EVM for a particular candidate is being seen as an attempt to influence voters.

Voting for 59 Assembly constituencies spread across 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh began on Sunday morning. This is the third phase of the Assembly polls in the state, where elections are to be held in seven rounds.

As many as 627 candidates are in the fray in this phase, in which over 2.15 crore people are eligible to vote.
