Election Commission has suspended Varanasi Additional District Magistrate for violating rules while transporting training EVMs

The Samajwadi Party had alleged that state govt was trying to rig the elections after a truck carrying voting machines was intercepted by party workers on Tuesday evening.

Varanasi District Magistrate and the Election Commission have however clarified that the EVMs that were intercepted were training EVMs and not EVMs used for the elections.
