In a big boost in the semi-final to the 2024 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has swept Uttar Pradesh again.With PM Modi and CM Yogi's double engine pitch having resonated, they have also set new records with the electoral win.
Yogi Adityanath is reportedly the first UP CM belonging to the BJP who has returned to power. Rajnath Singh, Ram Prakash Gupta, and Kalyan Singh - all failed to secure the throne for a second time.

Adityanath is also reportedly the first UP CM to complete his term and then return to power. In 70 years, Uttar Pradesh has reportedly had 21 CMs, but none who served for 5 years and then won again.
The mahant of Gorakhnath Math is also reportedly the first incumbent Chief Minister in 37 years to have returned to power. The last CM to do so was Congress' ND Tiwari in 1985.
When he takes oath now, Adityanath will be UP's first MLA CM in around 15 years, as per reports. While Yogi was a member of the Legislative Council in his first term as CM, his predecessors Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav were also MLCs.

The BJP leader from Gorakhpur is reportedly the fifth CM to win a second consecutive term, after Sampurnanand, Chandrabhanu Gupta, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, and ND Tiwari.
Despite a 70-year history, UP has reportedly had only three CMs complete their tenure, with Adityanath the latest entrant to the exclusive club.
On a lighter note, the priest-turned-politician has also broken the 'Noida jinx'. A visit to Noida, near Delhi, was dreaded in political circles as the cause of UP Chief Ministers' loss in elections. Former CMs Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kalyan Singh, and Rajnath Singh had reportedly avoided visiting the NCR city when they were power, after Veer Bahadur Singh and ND Tiwari lost the CM's throne after a trip to Noida.
