'Kalki 2898 AD' surpassed collections of 'Pathaan'

Amitabh Bachchan himself reflected on the success of 'Kalki 2898 AD' after reports surfaced that it had surpassed collections of 'Pathaan' in India, the first blockbuster of 2023 starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham. In 'Kalki 2898 AD,' Amitabh starred alongside Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan. Film, released in June, has quickly become one of the year's biggest hits.

More about 'Kalki 2898 AD'

Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Kalki 2898 AD' draws heavily from Mahabharata, set in a dystopian future. The story revolves around four central characters: Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), and Bhairava (Prabhas).

Amitabh Bachchan's portrayal of Ashwatthama garnered praise, with the actor humorously recalling his initial reaction during the film's pre-release press conference, 'When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for the long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?'.
