Nag Ashwin's much-anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD' is all set to arrive in theatres this Friday. Mounted on a budget of Rs 600 crore, the film is expected to take the box office by storm, given that advance booking numbers for the Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone are promising. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has raked in Rs 6.08 crore in advance bookings, selling over 200,000 tickets in India in just one day.
Despite the price hike for the first eight days of the release of the film, 'Kalki 2898 AD' had a record one-day box office collection. The highest number of tickets sold were for the Telugu language version, with around 1,95,000 tickets sold across 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats, minting nearly 5.80 crores as of Monday morning. The second highest sales were for the Hindi language , with over 7,000 tickets sold, while the film sold over 2,000 tickets for the Tamil version.
The Rs 6-crore record sale on Day 1 by Kalki 2898 AD is higher than what Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan achieved in bookings during the same period. However, the film is still behind blockbusters such as 'Jawan', 'RRR', and 'KGF Chapter 2'. However, since the advance booking opened late for the Hindi-speaking audience, the numbers are expected to go up. Interestingly, in just over a day, the sci-fi epic has topped the total bookings of this year's other significant films, including 'Chandu Champion' (Rs 1.22 crore) and 'Maidaan' (Rs 2.60 crore).
Telangana government has approved extra shows and hiked ticket prices for the state's first 8 days of release. A representative from the film’s team took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the update. They wrote, “Prabhas Kalki film ticket price hike, Telangana government approves extra shows.”
Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, 'Kalki 2898 AD' will be released in theatres on June 27, 2024, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English languages.
