'Thunivu' vs 'Varisu': Ajith Kumar-Vijay fans fight outside Chennai cinema hall; one dead

Fans of superstars Ajith Kumar and Vijay clashed outside a cinema hall in Chennai, creating a ruckus. Ajith and Vijay’s films, Thunivu and Varisu, have released on the same day after 8 years, leading to immense fan frenzy.

A video shows people scaling the hoardings and tearing the posters of the films. A few of them even tried to set the poster ablaze. Similar situation was witnessed at other places as well and police had to lathi-charge at Vijay-Ajith fans. A few unruly people were taken into police custody as well.

One Ajith fan also lost his life during the ‘Thunivu’ movie celebration in Chennai. According to ETimes report, he died while dancing on a lorry on the road in front of Rohini theatre in Chennai
Thunivu and Varisu released this morning and theatres across the state witnessed a heavy rush.

‘Thunivu’ starring Ajith and Manju Warrier is a bank heist thriller directed by H Vinoth. Produced by Boney Kapoor, the film also stars John Kokken and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.

Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer 'Varisu' is a family drama. It is directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju. The film also stars Sarathkumar, Shaam, Prabhu, Srikanth, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Samyuktha, Sangeetha Krish and Khushbu.
