Producer-director Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor have landed themselves in trouble over their web series ‘XXX’. An arrest warrant has been issued at a court in Begusarai district of Bihar against the duo for allegedly insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their family, according to news agency PTI.
Judge Vikas Kumar issued the warrants on the basis of a complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar, who is an ex-serviceman and a resident of Begusarai.
In his complaint in 2020, Kumar alleged that the web series had several objectionable scenes related to a soldier’s wife.
Kumar's advocate Hrishikesh Pathak told PTI that summons had been issued and the court asked the Kapoors to appear before it in connection with the matter.
‘They (Ekta and Shobha Kapoor), however, informed the court that certain scenes in the series were removed after the objection. But they did not appear before the court following which the warrant was issued against them,’ he said.
The erotic comedy-drama aired on OTT platform ALTBalaji, owned by Ekta Kapoor's TV Company, Balaji Telefilms. Shobha Kapoor is associated with the company.
In the series, each episode features a different story revolving around different aspects of sexual relationships. The first season of ‘XXX’ was released in 2018, and the second premiered in January 2020.
