Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on December 10 to raise awareness about people’s social, cultural, physical rights and to ensure the welfare of everyone. Every individual is entitled to rights irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, language, or social status.

The theme of Human Rights Day 2021 is 'Equality: Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights.' On this day, the United Nations encourages nations to create equal opportunities for everyone and address the issues of inequality, exclusion and discrimination.
The day also commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. UDHR is a document that outlines the fundamental rights of all human beings that must be protected universally.
