As per a report by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries Government of India, Makhanas possess high nutritional value and numerous medical and health-protective effects.

Popped makhanas are relished as a dry fruit the world over. They are loaded with nutrients such as proteins, fibre, magnesium, potassium, zinc and iron. 

Rich in essential amino acids

Makhanas are also known to be rich in amino acids. The kernel of makhana contains around 16 types of amino acids. And due to this, it is considered to be as healthy as fish. 

Good for diabetics

What is the most fascinating benefit about Makhanas is that it is low in sugar content. This makes them an ideal snack for people suffering from high sugar levels.
