The mother of one of the women who was paraded naked by a mob in Manipur feels no hope when she thinks of her family's future.
In an interview to NDTV, the 'deeply traumatised' mother said before the mob stripped her daughter naked on May 4, it killed her husband and youngest son.
The mother told the news channel that she had pinned her hopes on her younger son clearing Class 12 exams as her elder son does not have a job but now she feels helpless and hopeless.
She ruled out the possibility of going back to her village. Speaking about the scale of destruction, she said she does not know what the future for her family will be but they cannot go back.
The mother also questioned the Manipur govt and said that it had failed to protect them.
4 people have been arrested since July 19 when the video of the May 4 atrocity surfaced. The first complaint had however been filed on May 18 and it was registered again on June 21 but action was only taken after the video went viral.
As the Manipur police launched a massive manhunt to nab all the culprits, an FIR filed in the sexual assault case on June 21 detailed how an armed mob, nearly a thousand strong, had attacked a village in Kangpokpi district and allegedly torched, looted houses, killed and raped wantonly before abducting the two tribal women.
