On camera: Rescue after tunnel collapses at canal project in MP

In a distressing incident, an under-construction tunnel collapsed in Madhya Pradesh trapping at least 9 workers.

The mishap occurred on February 12 night at the Bargi canal project in Sleemanabad in MP's Katni district. By early afternoon on February 13, rescuers had pulled out 7 labourers, with efforts on to save the rest.

A State Disaster Emergency Response Force team arrived from Jabalpur to aid the rescue efforts.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had tweeted about the incident when the news broke. He said that he was saddened to learn about the mishap, and rescue operations were on.
