'New age of...': PM Modi flags off world's longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas which costs ₹25,000/night

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 January 2023 virtually flagged off the world's longest river cruise - MV Ganga Vilas - between UP's Varanasi and Assam's Dibrugarh.

He also inaugurated the 'Tent City' built on the banks of the Ganga river in Varanasi.

The 51-day-long cruise will cover 3,200 km through 5 Indians states and parts of Bangladesh. The journey will begin from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and end in Dibrugarh, Assam.

The luxury ship has 3 decks with 18 suites and a capacity to carry 36 tourists. It is operated by Antara Cruises.

To enjoy this luxury, a tourist will have to pay a fare of ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 a day. The total cost for the 51-day journey will come to around Rs 20 lakh for each passenger, as per news agency PTI.
