Amid fears of a third wave, India on Saturday reported 46,759 fresh Covid cases and 509 deaths in the last 24 hours. The numbers jumped by over four per cent since Friday. The jump in fresh infections is the highest seen in the last two months
Kerala contributed 32,801 cases in the past 24 hours. The southern state has been reporting over 30,000 cases for three days now. Meanwhile, Maharashtra, the state with the highest overall caseload, reported 4,654 new infections and 170 fatalities in 24 hours.

An increase of 14,876 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in 24 hours. Active cases constitute 1.10% of total cases, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands 97.56 per cent, the Union Health Ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.66%. It has been less than 3% for the last 33 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.19%.
