India’s public health crisis: too many patients, not enough doctors

India is facing a crippling shortage of allopathic doctors. Against an available pool of 9.6 lakh doctors, India needs 13.5 lakh doctors to meet the recommendation of the World Health Organisation of having 1 doctor for every 1000 persons.
