On Friday in the Indian Premier League(IPL 2022), Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) will take on the Punjab Kings(PBKS) in Mumbai. While the Punjab Kings has only played one game so far in the IPL where they won against RCB in a high scoring thriller, Kolkata on the other hand has played twice in IPL 2022. The Knight Riders stunned defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their opening game but lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 2nd match.
KKR would need to sort out their batting order as well as their death bowling in order to progress well in the tournament. Shreyas Iyer has been on point with his captaincy so far in the 2 games this season but the team would want Iyer the batter to also step up and score runs. The opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer are also struggling to find their feat which leaves the brittle middle order exposed. However, on the bright side, spin twins Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine have been in good touch along with the enforcer Andre Russell.

Punjab Kings had a stunning start to their season after chasing down a 200+ total against a spirited RCB in the opening game. The bowling unit might just get a major shot in the arm as South African pacer Kagiso Rabada has joined the team after national duty. The batting on the other hand looks more or less in place but a lot will be expected from captain and opener Mayank Agarwal. His opening partner Shikhar Dhawan looked in good touch and Punjab’s success in IPL 2022 will depend heavily on this pair.
