Most of the time, we miss cleaning our water bottles that we use regularly. But it has been revealed in a study that reusable bottles contain almost 40,000 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
For research, a team from US-based waterfilterguru.com collected samples of various types of bottles and from different parts of the bottles. They found two types of bacteria in them; gram-negative rods and bacillus.
As many types of bacteria are already present in our mouth, the researchers advise washing our water bottles at least once a day with hot water and soap and sanitise them every week.
