Every year April 22 is celebrated as Earth day to spread awareness about sustainibility and doing our best to make the planet a better place to live even for the coming generations.

Here are 5 habits that you can adapt and take small steps towards this noble cause.

  • Stop throwing away the water you wash your vegetables or grains in. Plant your plants with this water or keep it in a utensil for birds and street animals to drink from.
  • Carry your own water bottles whenever you step out and refill them from clean places like your office or college. Stop buying packaged drinking water and help reduce plastic pollution.
  • Stop wasting food whether at home, restaurants or events. Prepare as much food as you can eat at home. Even at restaurants and events order or serve less as much as you can eat.
  • Always carry a cloth or paper bag when you are out shopping. Stop taking plastic bags from shopkeepers and hoarding them at home.
  • Stop using chemical-rich cleaning products from the market and start using natural cleaning products at home. Common kitchen ingredients like vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice are great for cleaning.
