This might sound gross to you, but yes the reason behind your luxurious fragrance is whale vomit! Yes, you read that right.

A special waxy substance called 'ambergris' also known as floating gold is valuable and is considered as a treasure in the fragrance industry. Ambergris enhances the longevity and depth of fragrances.

In other words, Ambergris is also known as 'whale vomit' which is produced to shield the whale's stomach from sharp things. Ambergris is eventually ejected and can be discovered floating in the ocean or washed up on the shore which is later used in the high-end luxurious fragrances.

Ambergris, valued for prolonging perfume scents, is rare and found in upscale fragrances due to its high cost. Harvesting is ethically done post-whale expulsion, avoiding harm.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species states that killing sperm whales is illegal globally. Some countries also ban owning and trading ambergris to protect whale populations.
