Everyone desires smooth and carefree hair. And keratin treatment is one of the most common hair treatments that people with fizzy and wavy hair get. Even though it gives the desired look, it has various adverse effects. Cosmetologist, Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta shared some of them on her Insta feed.

Adverse effects of Keratin treatment

According to her almost all keratin chemical brands use an ingredient named formaldehyde which could lead to nausea, dizziness, eye irritation, sore throat, cough, wheezing, chest pains, and other health issues. While keratin makes our hair smooth and silky, it also leads to breakage, thinning and damage to hair. Hence, she recommends other treatments which give keratin-like results.

Hair Botox

It is a deep-conditioning hair treatment wherein natural ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins, and collagen complex are used to deeply nourish and repair your hair. The results last for 3-4 months.

Olaplex hair treatment

This treatment is great for bleached hair. It includes 8 ingredients that strengthen hair bonds, reduce damage done by hair colour, prevent frizziness and split ends and protect from sun damage.

Pro tip - It is always recommended to take an expert advice before going for any new skin or hair treatment.
