Oiling your hair is one of the most common practices in Indian households, but nowadays people are skipping this basic step thinking oiling can make their scalp and skin more oily.

Recently, dermatologist Rashmi Shetty shared 3 facts about hair oiling and what it actually does to our hair.

  • Oiling won't grow your hair dense or stop your hair fall completely, but it will hydrate and nourish your hair well. Remember to apply it properly from the scalp to the end of the hair tips
  • Stop using excessive amounts of shampoo to clean your scalp, this will end up making your hair dry
  • Make sure to apply oil on a clean scalp and only massage your hair if your scalp is clean

Lastly, she recommended slightly warming up hair oil before the application as it will be easier to apply and massage.

However, several experts have suggested that oiling can be beneficial as it acts as a natural conditioner. It also stimulates blood circulation when massaged into the scalp gently.

There are different kinds of oils available in the market that you can use, according to your hair or scalp type.
