Who doesn't love manicures, but it's also important to keep our nails healthy. According to an expert, gel nail polish should be removed as soon as it starts chipping off.
It usually lasts for two to three weeks, but some people tend to wait longer in order to avoid costly trips to the nail salon.
As per skin expert, Moore, who owns York Foot Clinic in the UK, irregular removal of gel nail paint can cause bacteria to thrive.
She also warned that the hardened gel, cured with a UV lamp, can harbour dangerous bacteria which can grow on the skin and turn your nails blue, green or even black.
According to Moore, the bacteria can also cause infections in the chest, urinary tract, ears, eyes, skin, blood and more.
