Veteran actor and politician Jaya Bachchan recently shared her homemade tanning pack during a podcast session with her granddaughter, Navya Nanda. Mrs. Bachchan revealed that she still swears by her mother's remedy for tan removal, which she used back in her days.
Jaya reminisced about her mother's weekly ritual of preparing the pack using malai, haldi and a small amount of wheat flour (atta), which she would then vigorously rub all over her skin. This pack effectively exfoliates the skin and removes tan from the body. However, before trying any home remedy, it's advisable to do a patch test to know you don't have any side effects.
Moisturization: Malai is rich in fats and nutrients, making it an excellent natural moisturizer. It helps hydrate the skin, leaving it soft and supple.
Skin Brightening: Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can help brighten the skin, reduce dark spots, and even out skin tone.
Acne Treatment: Both malai and haldi have antimicrobial properties that can help combat acne-causing bacteria. They also help reduce inflammation associated with acne, promoting clearer skin.
Anti-aging: The combination of malai and haldi can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Malai moisturizes the skin, while turmeric's antioxidant properties help protect against free radical damage, delaying signs of ageing.
Exfoliation: The lactic acid present in malai acts as a gentle exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. This can result in smoother, brighter-looking skin.
Sun Damage Repair: Turmeric has been shown to have photoprotective properties, helping to protect the skin from UV damage and repair sun-damaged skin.
