TikTokers who are known for their DIY creations, recently shared a method to make homemade sunscreen which has garnered over 16 million views. They combined a mixture of coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter and jojoba oil in a glass bowl, and melted them to a liquid before whisking in zinc oxide powder to it. Then it's frozen and used.
However, dermatologist Hannah Kopelman told Yahoo News that “homemade sunscreens are generally not effective” due to the lack of “rigorous testing” that over-the-counter sunscreens undergo.
Dr. Maris Garshick, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, advises against DIY sunscreen due to uncertainties about its effectiveness and the level of protection it offers.

Anti-Aging: Helps prevent premature aging signs like wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots caused by UV exposure.
Skin Health: Maintains skin health by protecting against damage from UV radiation, which can cause skin discolouration and texture changes.
Prevents Sunburn: Reduces the risk of painful sunburn, keeping the skin comfortable and healthy.
Promotes Even Skin Tone: Helps in maintaining an even skin tone by preventing sun-induced hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
