If there is one fruit that is delicious, filling and everyone's favorite, it has to be grapes. Grapes are a nutritious addition to your diet and make for a tangy and quick snack. The fruit is also rich in antioxidants such as resveratrol, flavonoids, and anthocyanins.
However, grapes can turn dangerous super fast if you donot wash them properly before consuming. Let us learn how to clean and store grapes like a pro.
Washing grapes before consumption helps remove contaminants like pesticides, dirt, and bacteria, ensuring the grapes are safe to eat and minimising the chance of ingesting harmful substances.
You can also use one teaspoon each of sea salt and baking soda, with a 5–7-minute soak before rinsing. While baking soda might help remove residue, vinegar can help fight bacteria.
However, the effectiveness and safety of these methods haven’t been scientifically proven.
Another thing to keep in mind is not to expose your grapes to moisture. You should ensure that you are drying your grapes properly before storing them. Excess moisture in the grapes will promote mold growth and spoilage. Pat the grapes gently with a clean towel or air dry them before storing in the refrigerator.
After properly washing them, store your grapes in a perforated plastic container or a container with a partially closed lid works well. Store them in the refrigerator for the longest shelf life and consume them in a few days to enjoy the OG taste and texture.
