Green peas are very nutritious and contain many vitamins, fiber & antioxidants. But as healthy as green peas are, they can sometimes be adulterated with artificial colour. So, before consuming peas, how about trying a simple experiment to test adulteration?

The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared a simple test to determine how green peas are adulterated
with harmful colours. Take a look!

Here’s how to detect adulteration in green peas:

  • Take some green peas in transparent glass
  • Now, add water to it, mix well and wait for half an hour
  • Unadulterated green peas do not leave any colour, while adulterated green peas with artificial colour will turn water green
