Summer is here! While we are all excited to munch on ice creams and mangoes, the dry weather also means dehydration. Your daily diet can have a lot of impact on your body temperature and how you feel this summer. If you are on the hunt for the perfect dish that will help you cool down and yet is delicious and easy to make, let's introduce you to dahi poha! Here is the recipe.

How to make dahi poha

To make dahi poha take 1 cup poha, yogurt or curd 1/2 cup, grated cucumber 1/4 cup, grated coconut 1/4 cup, salt to taste, desi ghee 1 tbsp, mustard seeds 1 tsp, slit green chillies 2, grated ginger 1 tbsp, coriander chopped 1/4 cup, water to soak poha.

Start by soaking the poha for 2-3 minutes and drain out the excess water. Keep the soaked poha aside. It will fluff up in some time. In another bowl mix the curd, cucumber and salt to taste. Now add poha, grated ginger and coconut. Prepare the tempering by heating ghee in a tadka pan. Add heeng ( optional) , mustard seeds and chilies and let it temper for a minute. Add this tempering over the poha mix with some chopped coriander. Mix well and serve.

How to save yourself from a heatwave

Summers and the sweltering heat can make you dehydrated, especially if you have stepped outside. Make sure to carry a bottle of water and avoid alcoholic beverages and drinks with caffeine.

Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours. If you must engage in outdoor activities, schedule them for cooler times of the day.

During summers, make sure to monitor local weather forecasts and heat advisories to stay informed about heatwave conditions. You should also be aware of heatwave related symptoms like dehydration, dizziness and exhaustion.
