Fruits and veggies are known to be good for your health, but can they replace your daily dose of workouts or your daily steps?
Well, a recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology said that eating 5 pieces of fruits and vegetables every day can be as beneficial to your physical fitness as taking 4,000 steps.
Harvard researchers measured the oxygen levels of 2,380 men and women who were given a food frequency questionnaire which looked at the consumption of 125 different food items over the past year.
The diet quality was then rated on the basis of the Alternative Healthy Eating Index (AHEI) and it was found that fruits and vegetables are as good as physical fitness.
