We all are aware that an excessive amount of sugar is harmful to our health as it could lead to various diseases like cardiovascular issues, cholesterol, weight gain and many more.
However, recently Nutritionist Nmami Agarwal shared a post on Instagram explaining 3 reasons why consumption of sugar is harmful to our skin.
Inflammation and Acne: Consuming an excessive amount of sugar can spike insulin levels, leading to the production of excess sebum, clogged pores, growth of acne-causing bacteria and increased inflammation.
Premature ageing: Sugar can promote a process called glycation, where sugar molecules attach to collagen and elastin fibres in the skin making it more prone to wrinkles and premature ageing.
Increased sebum production: The excess sebum can contribute to oily skin and potentially clogged pores, increasing of acne breakouts or tired and dull skin.
There are many celebrities and dermatologists who will recommend minimising sugar in your diet for healthy skin and overall well-being.
