Sawan 2023: During the holy month of Sawan, many devotees fast every Monday to seek blessings of Lord Shiva.
And, if you're a diabetic patient and fasting as well, then keep these tips in mind to manage your blood sugar levels and lead a healthy fasting season.
- To stay healthy while fasting, keep checking the blood sugar level and include right amount of carbs, fibre and protein in your diet. Apart from this, note that you get complete sleep.
- Consuming Buckwheat flour (kuttu ka atta) or water chestnut flour (singhaada ka aata) are healthier options during fasting.
- Instead of eating deep fried pakodas (fritters), try eating plain roti made of these flours. Eating fried food may increase blood sugar levels.
- Diabetic patients can eat khichdi or kheer made of Barnyard millet (Sama rice).
- Petha (wax gourd) or lauki (bottle gourd) can also be eaten during fasts, but make sure to not add sugar and jaggery to any of these preparations.
