Do you also surf online or visit social media pages of restaurants you are planning to dine at next? Well, this might be a way to trick you to spend more.
A new survey has found that people who visit restaurants with huge social media following are more likely to spend more money while dining.
The survey had 2,000 participants among whom 41 per cent said that social media played a major role when it comes to deciding the place they chose to eat at. The number was higher (58 per cent) among pollers aged 18 to 26.
The study, which was commissioned by Barclaycard Payments and conducted by OnePoll, also stated that many pollers check the menu on social media before placing an order.
Another very popular trick that restaurants use is to serve appetisers before ordering, which is also another big trick to make diners way too hungrier, making them order 10 times more.
