United Nations body, UNESCO has provided heritage status to 'French baguette'
This bread has a crusty exterior and is soft at the centre and is a quintessential part of the French diet. The country produces around 16 million baguettes a day and yet traditional bakeries struggle to rise against the increasing popularity of sourdough.
This status aims to protect traditions, knowledge, and skills, so that they are not lost over time.
