Everyone has a different choice of taste when it comes to tea, some like it light, some like it strong and over boiled. However, according to experts, overboiling tea can harm your health and lead to acidity and bloating.
New guidelines by ICMR caution against excessive consumption of milk tea and coffee as tannins in caffeinated beverages may hinder iron absorption in our bodies and overboiling tea diminishes its nutrients, causing acidity and produce carcinogens.
Acidity: Overboiling tea can increase its acidity, leading to stomach discomfort and acid reflux.
Bloating: Excessive boiling can cause bloating due to the formation of gas in the digestive tract.
Reduced Nutrients: Overboiling diminishes the nutritional value of tea, stripping away beneficial compounds.
Carcinogens: Prolonged boiling can produce harmful carcinogens, increasing cancer risk.
Hindered Iron Absorption: High levels of tannins from overboiled tea can interfere with the body’s ability to absorb iron.
Bitter Taste: Overboiling can make tea taste excessively bitter and unpleasant.
