From Anushka Sharma to Virat Kohli to Suni Chhetri, many celebrities swear by the 'monotrophic diet' that seemingly helps in weight loss. This diet includes eating one type of food for a period of time. The idea behind this diet is simplicity and restriction, as it focuses on one specific item. Let us know in details.

Anushka Sharma to Virat Kohli: Celebs follow the monotropic diet

In a previous interview, Anushka Sharma revealed that she follows a monotropic diet and does not get bored. She said, "That’s not a difficult thing for me because I do eat the same thing almost every day sometimes. Especially, when I am filming a movie. I eat the same thing. So, there have been times when I have had khichdi and baingan bhaja for a month straight for dinner. That’s all I have eaten. Or idli sambar for breakfast for 6 months straight."

According to an Instagram post by Gastroenterologist Dr Pal Manickam, the monotropic diet is essential for fat loss.

This diet is also based on the idea that simplifying food combinations can ease the digestive process, allowing the body to break down and absorb nutrients efficiently. Eating just one type of food helps the body not to be overburdened with complex combinations, which can sometimes lead to bloating, indigestion, or other digestive discomforts.

However, one must control the portion sizes.

What are the disadvantages of following this diet?

While this diet might offer some short-term benefits, it’s crucial to ensure a variety of nutrients over time to prevent deficiencies. This works great as a temporary cleanse or digestive reset and can be beneficial, provided it’s approached mindfully. A balanced and varied diet remains essential for long-term health.
