No matter how many smoothies, shakes or juices we consume but nothing can beat water. However, some people tend to make some common mistakes while drinking water.

Dietician Richa Gangani shared a video on Instagram about the same. Let's know what they are.

  • Don’t drink water while standing as it gushes through the system and does not reach the organs. So, it is advisable to always sit while drinking water.
  • We’ve all heard it before: “Drink four to five litres of water every day. Some people even recommend ten to fifteen glasses.” These are common myths. Drinking water while not thirsty can make the brain confused. Moreover, excess water in the body causes body's salt levels to go down and the cells to swell.
  • Never drink chilled water because it disturbs the temperature of the digestive system and also has a wrong effect on the secretion in our body.
  • Gulping down water too fast can lead to choking or swallowing of too much air, which can cause discomfort and bloating.
  • Do not drink water while eating food as water dilutes your gastric juices, which makes them difficult to digest, especially proteins.
