Kylie Ivanir, a New York-based registered dietitian, has warned against some of our favorite beverages which could harm our overall health.

They include energy drinks and pre-workout beverages which according to her may lead to increased blood pressure, heightened stress levels, and compromised sleep quality. These drinks often contain artificial sweeteners and flavours, which can disrupt both gut and brain health.

On the other hand, she also recommends avoiding sweet alcoholic cocktails, traditional soda, and iced tea due to their high sugar content or artificial sweeteners, which may have negative health implications.

A high consumption of sweetened drinks such as iced tea has been shown to be associated with development of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes,” she said, referencing a 2010 meta-analysis on sugar-sweetened beverages and type 2 diabetes.
