Roti or chapati is one of the most widely consumed bread in India and the most common way to cook a chapati is by half cooking it on a griddle(tawa) and then roasting it directly on a gas flame. But here's what the study says about this.

A study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, states that natural gas stoves and cooktops emit air pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide that are considered unsafe for the health by WHO.

Further, it was also reported that these gases link to respiratory illness, cardiovascular problems and cancer along with other conditions.
