When it comes to diabetic patients, there is always confusion about what to eat and what to avoid. However, a recent study has come up with an alternative to rice. Wondering what it is? Quinoa!

Published in the journal 'Nutrients,' the study claims that quinoa can help maintain blood glucose levels and can also prevent progression among pre-diabetics.

For the study, researchers analysed pre-diabetic patients for a period of 4 weeks, who followed a regular diet and a quinoa diet. Later, it was observed that the spike in blood glucose levels was reduced when they began the quinoa diet.

Those consuming quinoa in their diet ended up having fewer carbohydrates. Apart from this, their body mass index and weight reduced during that period.

A previous study conducted by the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health observed that quinoa also helps reduce the risk of premature death.
