Are you becoming mean and selfish with each passing day? Well, you don't need to blame yourself, just blame your sleep cycle. According to a new research published in the journal, PLOS Biology, losing even one hour of sleep could make people mean and it can kill their desire to help others.
The research suggests that the lesser sleep you get, the lesser social and more selfish you become.
The team examined the participants who were divided into two groups; the first group was asked about helping others after a night's sleep, the second group was asked the same but without the sleep. Researchers found that there was a 78% decline in self-reported eagerness to help others when tired.
As per the study, once the sleep is adequate and sufficient, the desire to help others is restored. However, this behaviour also depends on the sleep quality, above and beyond the sleep quantity.
So, it's time to calm down your inner 'Regina George' (yes, we're talking about Mean Girls) by having quality sleep cuz honey you do you!
