Egg is one of the best source of protein. But, some people only eat the white part of an egg and throw away the yolk thinking it increases weight.

Recently Dr. Priyanka Sehrawat (MD Med, DM Neurology) of AIIMS shared an Instagram post, describing innumerable benefits of egg yolk and busting some myths surrounding it.

She explained that while the white part of an egg is rich in protien and vitamin B, the yolk also contains essential nutrients like omega 3 and vitamins A, E and K which are beneficial in boosting immunity. Also, the selenium present in egg yolk maintains healthy hair and nails. It is also helpful for thyroid.

Some people believe that eating yolk increases cholesterol and fat, but on the contrary according to experts, eggs contain natural and healthy fats, which maintains cholesterol level.

Experts suggest that eating a whole egg provides a balanced amount of protein, vitamins and minerals.
