Have you heard of the term - Exercise snacking? No, it is not about snacking while you exercise! Exercise snacking is a fitness routine for those who are always busy. Working out is of utmost importance, but you can't always spare time to have an extensive workout session. And this is when we indulge in some exercise snacking! Here is what it means and why you should make this a part of your workout routine.
What is exercise snacking?
Add bite-sized workouts to your exercise routine and it will definitely provide you with a quick energy boost along with contributing to your overall well-being. According to Utsav Agrawal, advanced trainer at FITTR, exercise snacks refer to short bursts of physical activity that can be easily inculcated into your fitness regime.
“These quick bouts of exercise are designed to be convenient and accessible — making it easier for people to stay active throughout the day. The concept is based on accumulating short periods of exercise, much like you might consume snacks throughout the day, as opposed to longer, dedicated workout sessions,” he said.
The benefits of exercise snacking
There are multiple benefits of exercise snacking including being efficient and easily doable for people with busy routines. Another great benefit of exercise snacking is not needing a gym or a gym membership. These short bursts of exercise improve your cardiovascular health and help release endorphins that in turn reduce stress. A report suggests that three 10-minute spurts of exercise are as good as one 30-minute session.
