Showers are (and should be!) more than just a necessary part of our daily routine. It's really a blessing after a hectic day at work, a tiring trip or even a bad day. And now, science has also proved that hydrotherapy works wonders for both our minds and bodies.

A recent study suggested that taking a shower or the act of cleaning ourselves can help reduce anxiety and stress.

Published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, the study involved more than 3,000 participants. They observed that hot showers release oxytocin (a happy hormone) which in turn, reduces stress. Cold showers, on the other hand, are believed to enhance blood circulation, leading to stress reduction.

Researchers also found that participating in cleansing behaviour can make us feel calmer when we are stressed. Therefore, cleanliness can be our go-to solution during moments of stress.
